• Who owns, operates, or manages you? Does the same company or corporation do all? How long have they owned/operated the community? How often has ownership changed in the last five years?
• How many residents do you have in independent living?
• What is the average age of your residents? (What is the ratio of men, women, singles, couples?)
• What kind of social and recreational activities are offered? May I see a calendar and tour your fitness centers, classrooms, other areas of interest?
Affiliations
• Do you have any affiliations with nearby colleges or universities?
• Do you have any affiliation with nearby hospitals or medical centers?
• Do you have a preferred provider for home care or a provider on-site?
• Do you have religious or political affiliations of any kind? What is the general makeup of your residents?
Contracts
• Do you plan to expand anytime soon? Where will you be building? (Note: Noise factor and proximity to living unit.)
• What kind of transportation do you offer? Do you offer group and individual rides? Are there any associated costs?
• Does a new resident need to sign a lease? Any type of contract?
• What are your termination provisions?
Other
• Do you have any higher levels of care on-site? What are the costs?
• Is any kind of physical assessment required to move in? Who does it and is there a fee?
• What limitations or medical issues would prevent someone from being accepted or allowed to move in?
• Is there any move-in or community fee? When does it need to be paid and is it refundable?
• What kind of security is provided on-site? Does the community have any kind of security gate or security guards?
• Are you offering any kind of discounts now or move-in specials? When do they end?
