May is Older Americans Month

A year ago, I told you about a fantastic book called “Breaking the Age Code, by Becky Levy. According to the author, many of the health problems formerly considered to be entirely due to the aging process such as memory loss, hearing decline, and even cardiovascular events are instead influenced by the negative age beliefs that dominate the United States. In Japan, where age is celebrated and revered, the data is totally different.

This year the national theme for Older Americans month from the American Society on Aging is Aging Unbound, and there is a great website info@changingthenarrative.org that is focused on “Ending Ageism Together.” They are challenging a wide demographic to imagine what “Ageism Unbound by Ageism” would look like? Good question! I am so inspired by this diverse group of young men and women who are dedicated to educating the health care field, scientists, journalists, social media influencers, educators, businesses, the arts, and more about how ageism affects ALL of us. Check out the website listed above for all kinds of free webinars on this topic.
